3 ways to check who viewed your Instagram profile?

Ever wondered if anyone at all visits your Instagram page to look at your profile, check your posts out, or view your videos? This might be a concern to some people or to you.

When we post videos, and messages or put ourselves out there through social media profiles, we want people to know about us and maybe get to know us, so we definitely want viewers.

However, sometimes we may be worried about who is checking us out and may want to keep an eye on who visits the page, who views and reads posts, or who is seemingly stalking us!

If you have concerns related to who watches your videos, who sees your profile, or who may be stalking you, then continue reading.

In this article, I will explain if and how you can check who viewed your profile if you can tell who is stalking your Instagram account, and if someone can tell that you searched them on Instagram.

For a quick answer, because of privacy concerns, Instagram does not allow users to see who viewed their profile. As a result, there is no clear way to check who viewed your Instagram profile.

However, there are a few options you can try if you really must know.

Here is how you can check who viewed your Instagram profile.

1. Check the video viewers list.

Much as you can not tell directly who or how many people viewed your profile, you can tell who viewed your stories and videos; every user on Instagram has the option to check who viewed their stories.

You can see who viewed your stories by clicking the Seen by option on the bottom left corner of your screen. This should give a list of viewers among other data concerning your Instagram account, such as follows

The ‘seen by’ option gives a list of viewers regardless of whether they follow you or not. This is why it is also important to avoid viewing stories and reels if you do not want someone to know that you are checking them out on Instagram.

You can avoid it by not watching or swiping the video so quickly that your stumbled view does not last as long as 3 seconds. A bit more detail on how to avoid appearing in the viewers list is in the FAQs section of this article.

2. Instagram business account

The business Instagram account gives you access to information on who is visiting your page, including the visitor’s age, location, gender, and the time they are online.

If this is what you are interested in, then you can make use of the business account by converting your personal Instagram account into a business account. You can do this by;

  1. Go to the Instagram settings by tapping on the three-line icon in the top right corner of your screen, and tap on settings and privacy from the list.

This should give you a long list with items under different categorizations, scroll down to the category “For professionals

Instagram Settings and Privacy
  1. Tap on the option Account type and tools, this should display a menu with two categories, Account type, and Tools
  2. Under ‘Account type’, tap on the switch to the professional account option

  1. Go through the benefits as you tap continue then provide your profession (what best describes you) to go through with the account switch. Then you will be prompted to choose which contact information you want to put on your Instagram professional account.

Done! Now you can access information on who visits your Instagram page.

Note;

The business account will not generate historical information, it will only start collecting information on current views, so this will not let you know who viewed your account before you converted it into an Instagram business account.

3. Third-party apps

There are a huge number of applications that claim they can help you keep track of who views your Instagram. However, many of these require access to your account, this may be a security breach, and many do not actually work.

Well, if you choose to try them out anyway, you can check out Profile+, socialview for Instagram, and Follower Analyzer for Instagram among others.

In addition, as we crown this up, if someone likes your picture or posts, or comments on your posts, then you definitely know that they visited your Instagram page and most likely viewed your profile.

That said, what if you searched for someone on Instagram…what would happen?

If You Search for Someone On Instagram Will They Know?

Instagram Search

So you want to check someone out on Instagram but do not want them to know, or you are hoping that someone searched you on Instagram and are wondering if you will be able to tell who searched you?

If you are worried about the other person knowing that you searched for them on Instagram, no need, the answer is NO, if you search for someone on Instagram they will not know. Every search you do on Instagram remains private.

In this section of the article, I will discuss why someone can not tell if you searched for them on Instagram, then look into whether you can check who viewed your profile or who stalks you on Instagram.

What happens when you search for someone on Instagram?

Instagram does not notify users when they are searched for by someone, and there are no other ways for users to know who searched for them on Instagram.

So, no worries, go ahead and search for your preferred user, they will not know. You can also check that page out if you wish. But what if the search and viewing become regular and turn into stalking, can someone tell that they are being stalked on Instagram?

FAQs

Q. Can people tell if you are watching their videos?

Well, someone will not tell if you checked their Instagram, but YES, they can tell if you watched their video! By accessing the ‘viewers’ information.

The good news is that you can avoid this if you want.

You can avoid being found out that you watched the video by actually not watching it. As you search through the target user’s page, make sure you do not tap on the videos.

But what if you stumble onto a video, or tap by mistake? You can still avoid being listed as a viewer! Instagram counts you as a viewer only if you watch the video for 3 seconds or more, less than that, yours will not be counted as a view.

So, if you stumble on a video, you can scroll past it so first to not be listed in views.

Q. Can you check who viewed your Instagram stories after 24 hours?

Instagram stories typically disappear after 24 hours of posting.

But yes, you can view your Instagram stories after these 24 hours if you create a story highlight.

To create a highlight,

  1. Go to your profile on Instagram
  2. Tap on the + button on the top right corner to get a slide-up menu
  3. Tap on ‘Story Highlight’ from the list.
Instagram Stories
  1. Choose the recent story from the display and tap Next
  2. You will be prompted to give a title of the highlight, type the title, and tap done.
  3. Back to your profile, you can open the ‘story highlights’ and see who viewed your Instagram stories.

This though must be done within 48 hours, otherwise, you won’t get any viewers on the list.

Conclusion

Social media stalking is a widespread practice that sometimes is not harmful but may have negative impacts in some cases.

Instagram has a strong privacy policy and offers many interesting features to your benefit and that of your followers.

These benefits include not being caught in the act of checking other people out if you are careful.

From this article, we know that a user can not directly tell who is viewing their profile, stalking them, or even searching them on Instagram.

So now you know where to tap, what to avoid, and what you can enjoy on Instagram. Enjoy the fun!
