Telegram by default DOES NOT notify the other user if/when you save a photo that they have sent in a regular Telegram chat.

The Secret Chat feature, on the other hand, is an entirely different matter. If the Secret Chat feature is enabled in a conversation, Telegram will notify the sender if the receiver manages to take a screenshot.

This is to maintain the sender’s privacy and provide them with the opportunity to check to see if their private messages are being shared without their permission.

However, note that it is generally not possible to save photos in a secret chat.

If you want to be notified when someone saves a photo that you have sent in a chat, you could try using a third-party app that can detect when a screenshot is taken.
